AREA DE INVESTIGACION PRINCIPAL: Entomologia: Manejo integrado de plagas (MIP).
Uno de mis trabajos este año incluye un estudio sobre el control integrado de Dasiops inedulis Steyskal (Diptera: Lonchaeidae), cual es una plaga importante del maracuya (Passiflora edulis Sims) en Colombia. También estare trabajando en tres otros proyectos relacionados a plagas de la pitaya (Selenicereus megalanthus Haw) y el aguacate (Persea americana Mill.). Tambien, estare trabajando en la taxonomia de perlas de tierra de la mora (Rubus glaucus Benth.). En los ultimos 4 años he estado colaborando con la Dra. Lyn Cook de la universidad de Queensland, Australia en la construcción de una filogenia de la familia Coccidae a nivel molecular.

En la Universidad de California, Davis bajo la supervision de la Dra. Penny Gullan hice una investigacion postdoctoral de 4 años. Durante mi estadia en UC Davis trabaje en un estudio filogenetico de escamas blandas asociadas con plantas del genero Macaranga y hormigas del genero Crematogaster (Decacrema, escamas de laca (Kerriidae), escamas de Colombia, Chile, Ghana, Japon y Tailandia, eriococcidos de Chile, y varios otros proyectos.
